Midterms are kicking my ass

Processed with VSCOcam with x1 preset

Typically, when finals or midterms come around, I give myself an all out pass. No makeup, more sweatpants, and my diet will basically consist of coffee and carbohydrates. Then I saw this blogpost while on the hunt for the perfect pair of clogs (procrastinating, obviously) and shamed my midterms laziness. So, this is me adding a little effort. Not washed hair, but dry shampooed! Not the trendiest outfit, but not sweatpants! My shame has been lifted, and I am ready for some more coffee while I finish this damn essay (the healthy eating during midterms is going to need some work).

Blue Jeans

I love pants. Skirts, dresses, shorts: none of them compare to my love of pants. But these pants, Holy Toledo Batman, they are fantastic. So loose, so comfy, and yet so very stylish. They’re fantastic and I would like to be buried in them. For reference, I sized up from my usual jean size to make them baggy like boyfriend jeans, rather than high-waisted 90’s pants.

Hot Pink + Pale Skin

{Elephant Shirt from J.Crew, for a good cause no less}

I’ve always thought that hot pink, along with neon yellow and lime green, were colors I should stay away from as I have the palest skin of anyone I know, no exaggeration. Those flashy colors were for girls who were a sun kissed tan, not Casper the ghost. Well all thats changed, I take it all back. Hot pink nails and pale skin everyone! It’s gonna be a thing! Inspiration from this Pinterest post.

Kale and Avocado Salad

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 preset

So I had a Grown-Up Dinner Party the other night, with plates and a table and chairs and everything. Pretty classy, no? Anyway, I’ve been obsessed with a kale salad that my local market sells. So simple, so delicious, and best yet, so easy to copy. Kale, avocado, cherry tomatoes, a bit of parmesan, and a creamy caesar dressing. If you feel so inspired to have a Grown-Up Dinner Party of your own, I suggest letting the kale soak in the dressing for a couple hours before serving, otherwise it’s a little tough.

Creamy Caesar Dressing:

(not exact measurements, I mostly eyeball everything)

1/2 cup of olive oil

2 teaspoons of mayo

1 teaspoon of dijon mustard

the juice of half a lemon

1 clove of minced garlic

a pinch of salt and pepper for good measure

– put ingredients in small bowl and mix well. And more olive oil or mayo if needed for consistency

Happy last few minutes of Labor Day weekend!
